We don’t get a lot of light in the winter months here in Minnesota, so as a photographer you need to get a little creative. I still prefer to do photo sessions on location, as I feel families feel and act more natural than in a studio. The Mill City Museum has great light along with some wonderful architecture. This family was really fun to work with. We had a great time and I love when families have some of their own ideas they want to try!
I seriously love working with boys…it could have something to do with the fact that I have two of my own. But I get so excited when boys like to goof off. It makes for some really emotive images.
I always make it a point to get at least one of mom and dad. Lots of the time, they haven’t gotten their pictures taken since they got married!
This last one was one of my favorites. The stadium in the background was going to be torn down in a few weeks and dad was talking to his boys about all the Vikings football games he had been to there growing up. Such a sweet moment…
